VOLUNTEER & MEMBERSHIPS:
Do you like history, meeting new people, learning new skills and feeling that you are really helping out? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then becoming a volunteer at the Colonial Pennsylvania Plantation may be right for you. The Plantation is a nationally recognized living history museum right here in the Delaware Valley. On weekends from April to November, volunteer interpreters greet visitors and share what they have learned about colonial life with them.

If you ask our volunteers what they like best about the Plantation, you will get answers as varied as the people themselves. Many love the opportunity to meet and talk with visitors from around the world. Some simply enjoy turning back the calendar to a time quite different from our own. Others say that they come to the farm for its tranquility and to enjoy the animals. Whether your interest is hearth cooking, farm animals, historic clothing and textile production, blacksmithing, gardening, or regional colonial history – we have a place for you. You need only the interest, we provide the rest!

The Colonial Pennsylvania Plantation is a valuable resource to the entire Delaware Valley attracting school students, tourists and local visitors while benefiting local businesses and the area economy. Like most non-profit historical sites, the Plantation needs ongoing support. You can help in several ways.

Become a Member – The Plantation offers four membership levels.

  • Individual   $35   (A single membership)

  • Family    $50   (Two parents and children living in the same house)

  • Benjamin Franklin   $100 (A Family Membership plus additional guests)

  • Joseph Pratt    $250 (A Franklin Membership plus a print of the Plantation farmhouse)

For one low price, you and your family can attend all of the Plantation’s activities and events for the entire year. Click here for a Membership Form
Become a Volunteer or Interpreter – “People” are the heart and soul of the Plantation.

Some interpreters participate in special weekend events, demonstrate colonial skills and act as tour guides. Others teach classes, conduct workshops or simply are on hand to answer questions.  Still other volunteers prefer to work behind the scenes maintaining the property, working in the kitchen garden or caring for the animals. What do they all have in common? Aside from the reward they get from doing something they truly enjoy, there is also the satisfaction that they are needed and appreciated.

You can become a volunteer and/or an interpreter.  Even if you don’t know much about colonial America, come out anyway. We will teach you what you need to know. Call our office at 610 566-1725 for more information.
