Dear Friends of the Plantation,
As the 2007 season came to a quiet close, life on
the Plantation exploded. Two new arrivals came from near and far and have
already delighted and entertained volunteers and members. Karoline and Todd
joined the family of four legged friends of the Plantation. Karoline a 700-pound
Tamworth pig, is friendly and photogenic. Todd, the Red Devon Ox, has warmed the
hearts of those that have had the opportunity to hug his massive shoulders while
rubbing him behind his ears.
In early December William, our Iron Age Pig, became a Grandpa. Yes, Karoline
gave birth to five piglets, three girls and two boys. The girls will be staying
to help us interpret the animal husbandry of the colonial period. Don’t worry
about the boys, wonderful homes have been found for them. Jimmy Dean and Bob
Evans will have to go elsewhere for their bacon.
Come out early, come out often. 2008 plans to be an exciting year here at The
Colonial Plantation
